Behavior Problems

Behavior Problems occurs when a person displays societally unacceptable behavioral reactions to situations. Underlying the behavioral dysregulation is emotional dysregulation. Children are most susceptible to behavioral dysregulation due to their less developed impulse control and ability to control and cope with intense emotions. However, adults with inadequate coping tools can become emotionally/behaviorally dysregulated as well, often leading to increased risk of interpersonal conflict and violence. Common treatments for individuals with behavior dysregulation problems include: coping skill building, relaxation training, anger management training, cognitive behavior therapy, behavior modification, and parent-child interaction therapy to name a few.
